ASBESTOS ABATEMENT

Asbestos abatement is what we do. It's why we got into business. We've been building our expertise in asbestos abatement since the Workers Compensation Board introduced regulations to help control asbestos use and removal. We have a deep understanding of the rules and regulations surrounding asbestos and we've developed innovative technologies and methods of removal that give our clients total satisfaction and peace of mind. Our experience allows us to effectively and efficiently complete residential, commercial, and industrial projects both small and large.

Asbestos is a naturally occurring mineral found in trace amounts throughout the world. Asbestos fibres are microscopic in nature (roughly the diameter of a human hair) which makes them difficult to detect with the naked eye. Asbestos is recognized for being fire retardant, extremely durable and resistant to chemical erosion.

These properties made it a popular building material between 1950 and 1990. The strength of asbestos, combined with its resistance to heat made it a popular material of choice in products such as roofing shingles, floor tiles, ceiling materials, cement products and automotive parts.

DIY renovations put you at serious risk for asbestos exposure so before you renovate, investigate and have the materials tested.

Asbestos is the leading cause of workplace deaths in Canada.

According to The Globe and Mail, almost 5,000 confirmed death claims stem from asbestos exposure since 1996, making it the top source of workplace death in Canada. Asbestos is a highly toxic material that can cause mesothelioma, asbestosis, and lung cancer. But these conditions develop as a result of long-term, high-level exposure. Asbestos is only considered a health risk when the fibres are inhales over an extended period of time.

INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGY

Phoenix Enterprises’ vacuum box is designed to work in conjunction with the vacuum trailer (Vec-Loader) to remove asbestos more efficiently and cost-effectively.

Vec-Loader Technology

The Vec-Loader is a powerful, integrated vacuum, waste packaging and HEPA filtration system that is self-powered and easily transported; making it well suited for hazardous waste containment and the cleanup of buildings that are no longer easily accessible. The Vec-Loader’s overall removal rate is on average 263% faster than the manual process and reduces airborne radionuclides by an average of 36%.

Vacuum Box Technology

Phoenix Enterprises’ Vacuum Box technology was developed by our President Mike Reading. The equipment was established to reduce workplace injury and exposure to hazardous waste during the removal process while still being cost-effective. The liner is rated for lifting 9,000kg of hazardous waste and has an 8mil PE leak proof lining to ensure proper containment and disposal of the hazardous material.

If your property was built or renovated before 1990 it is likely that some parts of the building will contain asbestos.

We have been a leader in the asbestos abatement industry for over 20 years. We are experienced in completing residential, commercial and industrial jobs of all sizes. We offer a comprehensive service which includes the safe removal, enclosure, and/or encapsulation of identified asbestos-containing materials. We are complaint with all WorkSafeBC procedures and are the trusted partner of hospitals, universities, developers and airports around the province.
